Hello fellow planeswalkers! My love for Magic harkens back to my early childhood playing Mirage and Tempest cards at summer camp. It was an innocent time when none of my friends or I really had a grasp of the rules and you were a great player if you plopped down to a match with a 100-card-plus deck.
My first experience of casual competitive play was years later at my first ever Prerelease Event. The set was Shards of Alara. Now by this time I had at least gotten a better grasp of the rules and understood that land was actually important for a deck and less is more when it comes to actual deck size.
Only one of my group of friends that I had arrived with had ever been to an event like it. The room was ecstatic. You could really feel the high emotions in the room. Everyone was huddled together at tables discussing the spoiled cards from the new set. The big talk was running 3 color decks for the event.
For this same reason I am absurdly excited for this coming Battle for Zendikar Prerelease events happening September 26th thru the 27th. This is a great way to get introduced to a new set whether you’re a casual player or if you’re an old hat at this. We are hosting six incredible events this weekend, two of which are team events!
First and foremost is the Midnight Prerelease event. Easily the most exciting event. To have the opportunity to open packs of the Battle for Zendikar at the earliest possible moment is a real adrenaline rush. Each player will receive a Battle for Zendikar Prerelease kit to build a 40-card minimum deck and play in a non-elimination event for 4 rounds to try and collect as many prize packs as they can. This event sells out at least a week ahead of time, and as I write this there are less than 10 available spots for this event.
If you can’t make it to the midnight event that is okay! Saturday, at noon, 5pm, and 10pm, and then again on Sunday, at noon and 5pm, you will have more chances to participate in the prerelease or simply chain them together to score the greatest haul of the weekend amongst your friends.
The events occurring at 5pm, Saturday, and noon, Sunday, will be team events, more aptly titled Two-Headed Giant. Each player will get a Battle for Zendikar prerelease kit, and players will combine their cards to create two 40-card minimum decks to play as a team against other teams over 4 rounds of play.
Entry is $25.99.
For the Battle for Zendikar Prerelease, each player will receive a special hedron-themed Prerelease pack that they can use after the event as a take-home deck box. Inside each Prerelease box, there will be six Battle for Zendikar Booster packs along with a randomized, date-stamped premium promo card and a spindown life counter. – See more at: http://wpn.wizards.com/en/products/battle-zendikar#sthash.bycdfH7V.dpuf

I will see you there. GLHF
